ABC Bank has recently announced its collaboration with the European Investment Bank (EIB) through the Greening Financial Systems Technical Assistance Programme (GFS TAP). This initiative aims to fortify the bank’s climate risk management framework, aligning it with global standards, including those set by the Central Bank of Kenya.
Under the guidance of experts from EIB and Development Alternatives Inc (DAI), ABC Bank’s staff will undergo a comprehensive process to enhance the bank’s green financing initiatives. The partnership, funded by the EIB’s International Climate Initiative Fund (IKI Fund) in conjunction with the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), signifies a collective effort towards environmental sustainability.
Shamaz Savani, ABC Bank’s Group Managing Director, expressed optimism about the collaboration’s potential to seamlessly integrate climate risks into the bank’s risk management framework. He emphasized the significance of ABC Bank’s participation in the GFS TAP and the invaluable technical assistance provided by experts from EIB and DAI.
